Bronx Library Center – Institutional
310 E Kingsbridge Road, Bronx, NY – 80,000 sf – The project included the demolition of an existing structure previously occupied by Con Edison and construction of a new structural steel framed building above a cast in place spread foundation. Deep excavation included significant adjacent property underpinning and a dewatering program. Structural steel roof is designed with a slope reaching 30 feet at its peak which is then clad with standing seam metal roofing to compliment its design. Interiors include a full public library complete with reading rooms, offices, auditorium and book filing systems. The LEED Silver project was the first publicly-funded building in NYC to receive LEED certification.
